Woo hoo! Wings and Wounds has earned another award! Namely, the Next Generation Indie Book Awards honored Wings and Wounds, Book 1 of The Dragon Doc Tales, as a finalist for the First Novel category!
The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the largest International awards program for indie authors and independent publishers. In its eighteenth year of operation, the Next Generation Indie Book Awards was established to recognize and honor the most exceptional independently published books in 80+ different categories, for the year. The Indie Book Awards are presented by Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group in cooperation with Marilyn Allen of Allen Literary Agency (formerly the Allen O’Shea Literary Agency).

Subsequently, I arrived home to find this wonderful assortment of book bling awaiting in the mail:
Now, this firmly first-world dilemma has presented itself: where will the award seals fit on the Wings and Wounds cover?! Most certainly, the cover does not have enough room for both the Indie Book Awards and Eric Hoffer Literary Award seals. To be clear, I am not complaining! To have my work recognized and honored is thrilling and humbling.
Previously, Wings and Wounds earned distinction as semi-finalist in the BBNYA 2023 Book Awards. The novel also received multiple honors from the 2024 Eric Hoffer Literary Awards: Grand Prize Shortlist, Fantasy/Sci Fi Honorable Mention, and First Horizon Award Finalist.
I’d like to thank the BBNYA Book Awards, Indie Book Awards, and the Eric Hoffer Project for recognizing, supporting, and promoting self-published and indie publications. Thanks to these prestigious literary contests, independently-published books often gain an audience that would otherwise be hard to reach. Also, many thanks to my readers for the support, encouragement, and well-wishes.
As always, thank you for reading my tales!
Sincerely,
Dr. S.K. Burkman, Author of The Dragon Doc Tales
